A Message From The President of the USADBO

There has been many questions asked
by numerous deaf basketball fans as to why we have established the USADBO?

For the past several years, the quality of the National Deaf BB Tournaments under the auspices of the USADSF have deteriorated to the point that it has become, basically, a free for all for any team wishing to participate in tournament. This itself has deviated from the format of the old AAAD, which is to have elite championship teams from each of the 8 regions. The previous deaf national tournaments have been overcome with 20 or more teams participating in tournaments for monetary reasons only.
The structure of such tournaments results in several courts which are used for several games and the "fans" of these games are invariably team members and not basketball fans.

Furthermore, why has there been no Hall of Fame luncheon?
The HOF was the biggest highlight of the past AAAD along with numerous national BB tournaments. This itself will deprive today's generation BB players. The meaning and the purpose of having the HOF during the national BB tournaments. The officers of the USADBO are determined to bring back the prestige of the AAAD. The USADBO will invite only 8 men and 4 women teams of their regional championship, respectively. We are proud to take the initiative to provide the Hall of Fame luncheon to introduce the inductees of the 2008 Hall of Fame. We will provide 2 nights of entertainment, as well as a Saturday night presentation of awards.

The officers of the USADBO have no intention to unsurp the USADB National 2008 Tournament. We are simply interested in bringing back the prestige of deaf basketball.
